Kulpal Clan Of Tsenglap

Kulpal Clan is part of Tsenglap Kupuskup. The ancestor of Tsenglap Kupuskup, Kupus had two sons called Ngunts and Ngants. Ngunts decided to migrate towards the grassland near the Wahgi. Present Kulpal Clan is descended from Ngunts. Kulpal clan is actually made up of two sub-clans, Kulpal and Wahgi-daam. Kulpal people live along flat stretch of the Wahgi River.

The name Kulpal means man of savannah grassland. Kulpal clan has big land area because they live along the Wahgi River where the land is spread out. Where the Kulpal live, the land is flat and is suitable for agriculture. Many Coffee projects are found along the Wahgi River where the Kulpal live.

Kulpal Wahgi Daam

The sons of Ngants are the present Baimankanem Clan of the Tsenglap. The Kulpal live in places such as: Kisap, Kasngana, Bilu, Tula, Binz, Kamarl, Mailu and Kulamp.

Present Baimankanem Clan is descended from their ancestor Ngants. Kulpal people are descended from their ancestor Ngunz. Kulpal and Wahgi-daam sub-clans also have their own mini clans and house units. According to traditional history, Kulpal Wahgi-daam territory starts from Munumb near Banz and extends all the way to Kasngana.
