PNGDF Kerowil Engineering Base

The Kerowil PNGDF Highlands Region Engineering Base was established in 1998 by the National Government to engage in civil construction works in the Highlands Region. The Kerowil Base is named after the former contraversal commander of the PNG Defence Force, Major General Jerry Singirok. Kerowil Barracks was officially opened by former Prime Minister, the late Bill Skate, Defence Minister Peter Waieng and local MP Dr.Fabian Pok.
With the establishment of the Army Barracks, there is some peace and order in the community to some extend. The Army personnel engage in civil work, maintain peace and order in that part of the District. Currently there is a 40 men barracks accommodation and a detachment commanders house. Facilities will be improved and more personnel will be deployed in the near future.
