St. Edward Ambang Primary School

Ambang School was established in the early 1960s as a feeder school for Banz St. Anslem Primary School. The school was established by the Catholic Church through consultation with the locals. Before the establishment of Ambang School, Tsenglap school children had to walk all the way to Banz St. Anslem to attend classes. The Catholic Priest at that time was Fr. Edward Misik who came and lived at Ambang Station to oversee the school. Ambang school was later run by the sisters of Notre Dam who were based at Banz Maria Kwin Centre. Sister Rose Bernard established an Office at Ambang. Ambang Primary School and Mission Station are Catholic Church Establishments.
The Ambang School started from only one classroom constructed out of bush material. The School provided classes for Preparatory Grade to Grade three (3). The Grade four (4) class was attended at Banz. As the number of students grew, more classrooms were built and the school was upgraded to provide education from Prep Grade to Grade six (6). After grade six (6), those who passed were sent to High Schools to continue their education. The boys were sent to Fatima High School and the girls were sent to Notre Dame High School, both were Catholic run High Schools.
