THE TSENGLAP TRIBE OF JIWAKA

A Tribal Myth

Aikup Clan

The Aikup clan derive its name from their ancestor Ai, who was the first born son of Tsenglap Tribe's great great ancestor Karap. Aikup clan controls the source of the Binz River. There is a lake at the source of Binz River. This lake is invisible to other Tsenglap clans, but is only visible to the Aikup clan.

Aikup Clan's traditional singsing ground is at Ambangho and they live in small places surrounding Tupa village. Aikup people live in places such as Tupa, Ambangho, Dolba, Kumang, Jebele and some live as far as Bilu towards the Wahgi River.
