Tsenglap Council Wards
In early days prior to independance in 1975, there were only two (2) council wards inside Tsenglap Tribe. Clans of Gilgalkup, Kombilikanem, Baimankanem, and Baiman Karmanka came under one council known as Binz Wulda-Dam. The other council ward comprised of clans who live on the eastern side of Binz River. Clans of Kumukanem, Dangekanem, Kulpal, Baiman Kendu-Dam and Aikup came under Binz Alda-Dam council. The administrative centre for Binz Wulda-Dam was at Tolu Point and administrative centre for Binz Alda-Dam was at Kendu. Khanjip Zek of Kumukanem Manzkanem clan was the councillor for Binz Alda-Dam.
Initially when the colonial administration set up council wards, they created three councils inside the Tsenglap. The Kombilikanem and Baimankanem came under one council, and their councillor was Koime Gusamb. However, Koime Gusamb did not want to perform the duties of a councillor so he relinquish the councillor title and handed the councillor's batch back to the District Commissioner. For the younger Tsenglap generation who have never heard of Koime Gusamp, he is popularly known as Wurngalnga. So there were two councils for a long time, until recently they created three council wards due to population increase. When establishing the third council ward again, the councillor for Kombilikanem and Baimankanem was Peter Gelu Kombuk from Kombilikanem clan.
More recently the councillors for the three council wards were as follows: Tolu 1 Ward - John Ala Sike; Tolu 2 Ward - Peter Gelu Kombuk, and Kendu Ward - Kulpal Jack. In 2002, Kendu Council ward was separated into Kendu 1 and Kendu 2. Today there are four council wards inside Tsenglap.
