THE TSENGLAP TRIBE OF JIWAKA

A Tribal Myth

Kombultal Baiman Clan Of Tsenglap

Kombultal-Baiman people live at Guralpe and Tolu. They are also part of bigger Baiman clan, however they live apart from Baiman Kendu-Daam. Kombultal Baiman and Baiman Kendu-Daam migrated from Chimbu, as according to traditional folk lore. Baiman Clan (Kendu-Daam and Kombultal) travelled from Chimbu to South Wahgi and eventually ended up in the Tsenglap Territory. When Baiman people arrived in Tsenglap territory, Tsenglap Kupuskup people welcomed them as they needed the manpower.

Tsenglaps clans welcomed Baiman people as a replacement for Berepka and Ngants Kapangkup people who migrated out of Tsenglap. In those days tribal fights were prevalent and Tsenglap Tribe needed more manpower. Kombultal Baiman people have their headquarters at Guralpe. Baiman Karmanka people are the original inhabitants of Guralpe. They are not immigrants, the Baiman Kendu-Daam and Kombultal migrated into the Tsenglap.
