There are two major clans which make up Baiman Clan of Tsenglap. Both these two clans trace their origin back to Chimbu and some traditional legends have it as far as Southern Highlands. Two major Baiman clans are known as Baiman Kendu-Daam and Kombultal Baiman. Baiman Kendu-Daam live around Kendu and Kerowil areas. There are three minor sub-clans inside Baiman Kendu-Daam clan. These three sub-clans are as follows:
- Baiman Galikup
- Baiman Kenzka
- Baiman Pelipka
The Baiman Kendu-Daam have their singsing grounds at Kendu Jimbina and it is their traditional headquarters.
Baiman Kendu-Daam is a clan which has some important historical background as this is the clan which has had direct contact with the outside world in terms of colonisation and government and admininstration. The first aircraft to land in the Highlands was at Nangamb in the Waghi Valley near Kerowil inside the Baiman land.
Famous Australian Explorer Jim Lindsay Taylor first came and set up camp at Nangamb when he discovered Wahgi Valley during his aerial survey in 1933. Jim Taylor mobilised Tsenglap natives to build a landing strip at Nangamb. Later on Jim Taylor settled down at Kendu inside Baiman Territory and married Manamb Yerrim of the Baiman Clan of Tsenglap Tribe. Jim Taylor and Manamp have two (2) daughters, Meg and Daisy. Dame Meg Taylor was a former Papua New Guinea embassador to the United States, Canada and Mexico based in Washington,D.C.
Former Wahgi Council Chamber was at Kerowil inside the Baiman land. The current PNG Defence Force Highlands Region Engineering Base is at Kerowil inside Baiman land.
