Christianity For Tsenglap
After the exploration of the New Guinea Highlands by Jim Taylor and the Leahy Brothers, came the Christian Missionaries. The first missionaries were the Catholics, then came the Lutherans, the Nazarenes and the Evangelical Brotherhood Church. When the missionaries came, they introduced the Word of God to the people. The missionaries preached about peace, love and the laws of God in the Bible. Today inside the Tzenglap territory, people are adherents of the christian faith. All people inside the Tzenglap know about God, and they believe that God created the Heavens and the Earth and all that is in them.
There are many religions in this world, and each religion has its own god or diety. PNG is a christian country, and when we talk about christianity, we are talking about: Bible, The God of Creation, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, The God of the Israelites. The God that we Christians claim to worship and pray to is the God of the Israelites. We Christians belive that men as gone far away from God because of sin. That is why God send his only begotten son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, so that those who believe in Him may not perish but have everlasting life. When we talk about the God of the Bible and Christianity, we are talking about freedom.
When we look at the word of God in the Bible, The Bible really talks about freedom, blessings, healings for sick and provisions. God promises blessings but we are living a life full of troubles, why because we do not follow what God says. We go to church on Sundays (or Satuarday if you are SDA), but we do not follow his commandments, that is why we still have big proglems in our lives. We are just acting and pretending going to church, we still indulge in worldly things, that is why we cannot have the things that are promised by God in the Bible.
When we talk about God and Christainity, many of you out there do not want to read about it. We spend more time reading all worldly things on the Facebook, and other social networking sites, but when it comes to Christianity, people just shun away from the subject. They think that going to church is for elderly people, or for those who are dying. But we would like to tell all your Tzenglaps out there that Christianity and The Bible do offer a lot of hope and opportunity. If we want our community to be a peaceful place, we must encourage our people to go to Church and worship God in Spirit and Truth.
On this webpage, we would like to tell all you good people out there, if you want to see some changes and development in our place, the change has to take place within a person. Each and every individual must change, the change must come from within a person. When an individual person changes his or her ways, then household and family unit will change, then it will penetrate down to the clan and tribe. When this happens, our community will be a better place to live in. If people do not change themselves inwardly, then we will not see any changes in our community. It will be very difficult to bring a government service to a place where the people are violent. People need to have respect for government infrastructure and facilities that provide social services. Drug and Home Brew has taken a toll on all our young people and this will get out of hand unless the Community Leaders do something about it. We would like the Christian Churches to do more in this area so that people's lives are changed inwardly. Drug addicts must quit drug and home brewers must stop brewing steam beer. Members of Parliament and Law Enforcement Agencies will not change people's lives. It is through the Word of God that people will change
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 1:19 The Scripture says. "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and set aside the understanding of the scholars." 20. So then, where does that leave the wise? or the scholars? or the skilful debaters of this world? God has shown that this world's wisdom is foolishness! If we try to bring peace and development by worldly standards, we will not achieve anything. PNG has been independant for nearly 40 years and things are getting out of control. So we need the wisdom of God to change people's lives and make our community a better place. People will not appreciate anything if they do not know the word of God. Yes, you can have so many things in this world, but on top all the worldly things that you have you must have reverence for God . Because God will destroy both body and soul in hell Matt 10:28
